Montclair Flea, Dungeon Closet, and Demolition Magic
Where we're popping up first in 2026!
You’re reading Jersey Girl Thrift’s biweekly newsletter! A quick and fun read, full of swap announcements, style tips, thrift store reviews, great reads, and a recipe or two. It’s everything you need to live a thrifty and luscious life.
New Year, New HQ
Hi, JGT crew! Miss you gals.
I’m fully in my slipper era. Sleeping in. Eating pho on repeat. Watching Glee (don’t judge me). Taking bundled-up walks around the neighborhood. It’s the dead of winter, and honestly? I’m loving it.
And while yes, I’ve been hibernating, I’ve also been quietly shedding one last skin before the New Year — a big one at that. Because… I’m moving to Bloomfield! :)
And guess who else is moving? JGT. We found the perfect new headquarters: a big, ground-level garage attached to my new apartment. (Or did it find us? Feels like fate, just like everything with Jersey Girl Thrift.)
Which means, yes, we will be saying goodbye to the Dungeon Closet….

A moment of silence for the Dungeon Closet. You served us well.
This means easier loading and unloading for ya girls, faster swap setups, and more frequent swaps. Perhaps the return of free pick-up weekends??
Demolition Estate Sale Magic
Okay, so in the middle of all this moving and hibernating, I somehow found myself at something called a demolition-estate sale. And yes, it was exactly as feral as it sounds.
No electricity. No plumbing. No heat. Just me, a flashlight, and a house that was about to be gutted.
The estate sale photos on Facebook Marketplace were… odd. But I spotted a few stacks of art in the background and thought, you know what? Let’s see where this goes.
I got there right when it opened, walked in, and, jackpot. Piles of 60s–70s artwork, needlepoint pieces, acrylic, and a mix of eras that felt like digging through treasure. I ended up bringing home such a beautiful art haul for my new apartment.
I made a few new friends, and learned the woman who lived there was a professional puppeteer (icon). It was truly one of those weirdly magical New Jersey mornings I’ll never forget.

Tarot Reading to End the Year
I have to put you onto someone I adore: Maja Daost, my Tarot card reader.
I’m a big believer in asking for help when your head or heart feels jumbled. And for me, getting a reading feels like asking for a little help to interpret the universe’s messages.
Maja is the coolest. She’s super smart (a biochemist, among other incredible trades), and a spunky Cali native.
Her readings are totally grounded, and just… real. I love the way she interprets the cards: nothing fluffy, nothing performative, just honest wisdom from someone who’s clearly been with the art of Tarot for a very long time.
I book a virtual session with her whenever I’m at a crossroads or when something feels a little foggy in my life. She has this way of pulling the truth through the cards and giving me confidence and clarity.
It’s always nice to have a go-to, so I thought I’d share mine as we turn over the New Year.
Here’s her email [[email protected]]! Just reach out and tell her Larell sent you. :)

This card kept showing up for me in this reading!
JGT x Montclair Flea (!!)
And while we’re talking about fresh starts, here’s a fun one. Our first 2026 swap will be popping up at Montclair Flea inside Lackawanna Station!
If you’ve been to Montclair Flea, you know the deal: the coolest people, tons of incredible vendors, and vintage galore.
To be popping up there is truly such an #isthisevenreal moment for JGT. The space? The community? The vibes? We’re bringing the party, and we cannot wait.
Expect the same fun swap vibes, same amazing finds, just in a bigger, buzzier environment. Tickets will go on sale in the new year (and you’ll hear it here first, always).
Cuddle Bugs and Best Friends 🐾
I had the time of my life rescuing and fostering these brothers from my backyard (some of you may have seen them on our IG stories).
Now that they’re safe and thriving, I’m on a mission to help them find their forever home.
And, listen. I never considered adopting two cats at once. My house growing up was always a one-cat situation. But after fostering these babes for a few months on my own, I realized it’s kind of a cheat code.
Built-in companionship, less boredom, smoother transitions… and way more cute moments. Adopting a bonded pair is especially helpful if you work long hours.
Anyway, these sweet boys are so cuddly, playful, thoughtful, goofy, and entertaining.
And they’re currently hanging out at the Clifton Animal Shelter. Truly, whoever adopts them is winning at life. Here’s their Petfinder link if you want to take a look or share with a friend.
Back to watching GLEE and dreaming about my new gallery wall.
Love ya!
xoxo,
Larell
