Side-eye, sushi, & swap details

Thrifty weekend plans for everyone!

You’re reading Jersey Girl Thrift’s bi-weekly newsletter! A quick read, full of swap news, style tips, local recs, thrift store reviews, great books, and a recipe or two. It’s everything you need to live a thrifty and luscious life.

How are we doing, team!?

Ahhh, there is nothing quite like February.

From a confusing record-setting blizzard to a bright, drippy New Jersey defrost.

Did it quietly concern me re: the swap? Like, yeah. I checked on the swap garage a few too many times.

Do I love driving a 15-foot U-Haul through tight snow-packed streets? No, ma'am.

Have I been side-eyeing the weather daily? YUP.

But the show will always go on, especially if Kelli and I have anything to do with it.

Which brings me to...

Montclair Flea and Lackawanna Station

If you didn’t snag a swap ticket this time, please still come say hi and hang at Montclair Flea!

The flea is FREE, and honestly, such a vibe.

Vintage vendors. Handmade goods. Local artists. Jewelry. Home decor. Little treasures everywhere.

It’s the kind of place where you say, “I’m just browsing,” and then somehow leave with a ceramic lemon jar, a handpoured candle, and a 1970s bomber jacket.

Lackawanna Station, where the flea is being hosted, has everything you need for a shopping pick-me-up, like a bar for drinks or coffee, a donut shop, and a great spot for burgers.

Swap girls, flea friends, casual strollers, curious boyfriends, vintage hunters. All are welcome.

Swap ticket holders: this one’s for you

If you grabbed a ticket to the Jersey Girl Thrift swap, here’s your pre-swap checklist so you walk in calm, confident, and ready.

🅿️ Parking

There are two big lots at Lackawanna Station. You’ll have no trouble finding a spot.

It’s paid parking— about $2.50/hour. Give yourself a few extra minutes to download the app or scan the QR code when you get there.

👗 What to bring to the swap

Gently-used:

  • Clothes

  • Shoes

  • Bags

  • Jewelry

  • Belts

  • Scarves

  • Hats

  • Jackets

All sizes. All styles.

This is the BEST place for those “I spent so much on this but never wear it” pieces. You literally get to witness someone light up when they find it. It’s instant good thrift karma.

🚫 What not to bring

Please pass on:

  • Heavily worn pieces

  • Super pilled items

  • Cat hair (meow)

  • Holes

  • Broken zippers

  • Stains (especially white tops… you know the ones)

Pressure test: “Would I be excited to find this?” Yes? Bring it.

💌 The craft: postcards

Snail mail forever. We’re collaging postcards with magazine clippings, stickers, and little treasures. We’ll bring the supplies. You bring the intention.

Start thinking:

  • Who would love a surprise piece of snail mail?

  • Do you have their address?

  • Screenshot it or save it in your Notes!

🧡A vibe reminder

JGT is not a sample sale. It’s not competitive. It’s not elbowing or frantic.

It’s relaxed, communal, and warm. 🙂

Zero Monica energy
